HOW TO PROMOTO THE USED OF COMPUTER LAB?

Assalamualaikum everybody…

Nowadays technology is widely used in educational field. However, because of certain problems such as financial, sponsor, facilities, etc. some schools cannot integrate the use of technology. But, all of these cannot stop us from learn and gain knowledge about the world of technology.

In order to promote the use of computer lab in the classroom, teacher must always be updated and gain knowledge as much as they need about it and technology. Teacher must always make sure that the facilities in the computer lab are in the safe and good condition.

Here, there are some activities that the teacher can do in the computer lab. Firstly is blogging. Blogging is suitable to be introducing to upper primary pupils that are for Year 4, 5 and 6. Blogging is a good practice for pupils in doing their own reflection on the topic, subject or anything that have been taught by their teachers. Pupils can also share ideas, suggestion, opinion and comments with their teachers and friends. These will help them to use their CCTS. Furthermore, teachers can also the pupils’ problems, learning styles better and also their personality.

The second activity that can be done in computer lab is by using courseware/software. Since all of theses kind of courseware/ software are design and use English as the medium of communication, this can help pupils in improving their own intrapersonal skills. Besides, pupils can also learn more new vocabulary and increase the use of their CCTS and imagination. Pupils can also relate and apply it in their real life since many of them are designed especially to suit and a very familiar with the pupils.

Lastly, teacher can also introduce the pupils to much kind of online games. The examples of online games are ‘Dinner Dash. Hanggaro’ and ‘Who want to be a Millionner’. The games can work as the enrichment activity for the pupils. Besides, these will also a good practice and exercise to fulfill their free time in a meaningful and interesting way. Since pupils like to play, these online games will make them feel fun, motivated and happy while learning the language.

FISH! PHILOSOPHY

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone…

After read the article of FISH! Philosophy, I was very impressed and interested in promoting this skill in my own teaching and learning process. In my opinion, FISH! really promotes, apply and emphasis Constructivist Approach, Humanism Theory and Discovery Learning.

As mention in the article, FISH! apply through four simple practices that are be there, play, make their day and choose your attitude. In term of educational field, all of these practices are good and beneficial for the pupils due to the fact that these will encourage group work activity, used their CCTS, improve their learning skills and proficiency and also good for their communication skills. At the same time, FISH! also makes the class or lesson more alive, fun, interactive and meaningful to the pupils. When pupils feel fun, happy and also learn at the same time, teacher can achieve his/her learning objectives and it also help to lower down pupils’ affective filter. So, pupils will participate more with the lesson. Besides, FISH! also help to create a culture of trust, accountability and innovation among pupils and teachers.

How teacher can promote FISH! in the classroom?

Teacher can apply FISH! for example when pupils do some group work or pair work activities, do experiments and others. During this activity, pupils feel free and can take control of their own work. Meanwhile, teacher acts as the facilitator and will observe, and provide a help if necessary. After they have finish doing their work, pupils have to share and present their work with their other friends. Their pupils can ask or give comments based on their friends’ work and this can be very meaningful to them since they can have sharing ideas or opinion session and this will also improve their self-confident, motivation and interpersonal skill.

Presentation & Feedback

Assalamualaikum....
This week was the 9th week and for this week class, we had some presentation and feedback regarding our 2nd Assignment. Luckily, my group had been chosen to present our work in front of the class. We only had to send one representative from our group and other group members had to accompany the particular person while she was presenting her work. So, our group had selected Nor Azirah Ibrahim to present her work.
From her presentation, there were few groups who gave feedback. There were some positive and negative feedback given by our friends, tutors and the lecture, Prof. Raja Maznah. From the feedback, I realized that in designing a SMART Board lesson plan, there were a few aspects that we had to take into consideration. For instant, the background, animation, font, grammatical mistakes and etc. Since our target audience is Primary pupils, we had to make sure that all of the aspects may be beneficial and useful for them. If one of the aspects will disturb them in learning, we had to consider whether we wanted to change it or remove it out. So, as the designer, we must always think about our target audience will designing anything especially for educational purpose. At the same time, we also want our pupils to feel enjoyable, interested and motivated in learning.

SMART Board - Assignment 2

Assalamualaikum and hi guys....
How is everyone now? Even though this is Ramadhan month, we cannot use it as an excuse to stop us from learning and focus on our study. Is it right?:-)
This week was the time for me to work out on my 2nd assignment that is SMART Board task. After draw lot on the subject that each of us supposed to focus on, I had assign to come out with some teaching material for English Language subject. Honestly, at first I found that it was difficult for me to find a suitable topic for my assignment. However, after I consulted my group members for their opinion, I decided to come out with a lesson outline for the topic of Prepositions (location and direction).
Along the process of this assignment, I had referred to a few exercise books for Primary pupils in order to get ideas for my SMART Board activities. Besides, I also referred to the English Curriculum Specifications (CS) for KBSR to make sure that my SMART Board task will be beneficial and suitable for my target audience. I decided to focused on Year 1 pupils with the intermediate level of proficiency.
I really hope that I could do much more better in this assignment compared to my previous
assignment, video clip.

Assalamualaikum....
Hello guys....
Sorry because this week it seem a bit late for me to post a new message in my blog. It is because I didn't have any internet access in my home. So, I have to go to cyber cafe...huhuhu
Last week we got our Assignment 3. This assignment is about SMART board. We have to design and come out with a lesson plan and the important part is, this assignment has to be done by using SMART board!So, this is another challenging task for us....
Personally, SMART board is really good and give me a new idea on how to make teaching and learning process more interactive and lively. I'm sure that if a teacher uses SMART board in the class, pupils will participate more and feel fun and enjoyable throughout the teaching and learning process. When this happen, pupils will find that, learning is fun and this will motivate and encourage them to take part in the classroom activity.
So, get ready guys and use our creativity for our next assignment. CHAYOK!!!!

Assalamualaikum.....

Alhamdulillah because of His will, at last I finished doing my second assignment, video clip. Many new things that I had learn along the way of creating video clip on my own. It really a momerable and useful to me since I have a very limited knowledge about technology.

From this assigment, I get a chance to know, learned, used some software. I knew that if I wanted to make animation, I had to used Adobe Photoshop and Adobe ImageReady. I learnt how to crops, pasted and be creative and maginative. Since I used animation in my video, all of these were very usedful to me. Besides, I also get to know and learnt about Power Director, Movie Maker etc.It was really a useful to me:)

Moreover, while doing this assignment, I also learnt about myself. I tried very hard to control not only my emotion but also my mind and physical to make me awake. I almost felt like I wanted to cry and threw mt laptop away since we who stayed in 9th College had some problem with internet connection. It was so slow and very limited!!!Besides, sometimes I felt like a 'walking zombie' since I didnt get enough slept or an 'owl' because I slept at daytime (if I had time) but stay up for the whole night, tring to finish the work.....huhuhu....

However, I then realized that all of these experience and tiredness is part of student's life. We must always remember that in order to get something, we must work for it.We cannot wait for it to easily come to us. Always set in mind that, "no pain,no gain."

Today I feel tired and didn't really focused on what the lecturer is all about. I know it my fault but I feel really sleepy and lazy today:(
Enough about myself. Now I would like to talk about my video clip. It still in progress. True, I didn't finish it yet...huhuhu...
